I AM CURRENTLY | April 2021

TAKING a ton of photos – I’m participating in two (personal) challenges: #aprillove2021 which has just started; and, #the100daysproject is 60+ days in. I’ve enjoyed both as they’re training my eyes to be more observant, take in the details and notice what might usually be ignored.

WAITING for the call from my pharmacy. I signed up for the vaccine and knew I’d go on a list. I did not know there would be a total of 300 vaccines delivered to my pharmacy and me be on a waitlist with 2,000 other people. This stroll out is ridiculous. Hundreds of thousands of vaccines in a warehouse and virtually zero distribution. And everyone is pointing fingers. How about: get the vaccine out of storage and into arms as quickly as possible. Boom. Done! (I was in the grocery industry my entire career – and childhood – I know how logistics work, and this is not complicated.)

LOVING daily conversations – phone calls and texts – from my kids. Lots of life happening with all of them. I generally don’t volunteer advice – my job is to simply help them process what they know and help direct them toward what it is they want. Forever (and happy to be) their greatest cheerleader!

CONNECTING with old friends and learning just how small the world is.

READING and re-reading my short story as I get it ready to be edited by a proper editor. I’m so grateful to friends and family who took the time to read and point out what they liked and what they thought was missing, everyone loves our story as much as we do/did. I’m learning I can’t edit myself!

FINDING people are funny, and not in a ha-ha kind of way. They’d rather move house than fix the issues – even dangerous ones. Like my last home, I’ve inherited a whole swath of “no inspector could find” problems at my new home – plumbing, electrical, roofing, windows. They are all being fixed properly with qualified and licensed trades so as not to put anyone – including me – in harm’s way. At this point, I should have torn the whole thing down but you don’t know what you don’t know until you know it! It’s going to be gorgeous (and safe) when it’s all done!

MISSING my beasties! They’ve gone up North with Cole for a bit for more training with the “invisible fence”. It’s weird to not have them here. Especially first thing in the morning when they normally jump on my bed and lick me to bits in order to wake me up to take them out. Well, that part I don’t miss so much! As much as I love them, I do appreciate the break.

WRAPPING small tokens of remembrance for Bill’s birthday at the end of the month. He had such a positive impact on so many people, and over the last few months, many have reached out and been so lovely and kind to me. I want to show them in a small way how much their love and support has meant to me. And, I know Bill’s around to know and appreciate them, too.

WORKING on the idea of creating a community for women in my new hometown. As much of an introvert as I am, this past year has taught me that I need to connect with other people. I’m going to create a safe and welcoming space to have elevated conversations with like-minded (and even opposite-minded) women who are also looking for creative and safe connections. “If you build it they will come.” We’ll see!

EATING food that Caden likes preparing. We’ve agreed that he’ll start making a few meals a week and I have to say he has come up with some creative ideas – all very yummy.

EXPECTING absolutely nothing to go as planned. I’m keeping my expectations low so as to not be disappointed and leave room to be pleasantly surprised. It’s the whole under-promise and over-deliver philosophy. I hope it works!

MAKING a guidebook of sorts – part intentional journal, part calendar, part art pages, part astrological/wheel of the year guide – to support my hopes of having a nice intimate circle of women (mentioned above). Everything needs some structure, nothing rigid, just something to provide a flow for the group.

ANTICIPATING the Ali Edwards-led Week in the Life project coming up next month. I’m going to spend some time preparing for how I want the project to look as I’ve missed the last couple of years – life got in the way!

What about you? How are things in your world these days?
