BRAVERY 52 | List 17

LIST 17 | List the assets in your life that you would benefit from investing more time into, whether it be people, physical resources, activities, or skills.

This has been a difficult year and more for all of us, I don't know anyone who has not been touched to some degree by the isolation and inconsistency of the pandemic. My time was compounded with intense grief over Bill's death, selling a house and buying then renovating another, and then Caden's cancer diagnosis. Sometimes I want to yell from the rooftop, but to what end? There is no point in complaining.

Onward!

Instead, I have spent this time putting my life in order even in the current chaos and frustration of living between here and there.

I've managed to complete a few projects, the big one being the writing of our short story. (I will submit it in honour of his 57th birthday, today.) Once sent I can simply hope for the best and that Bill will guide it to the right hands!

I've invited into my life all of the things I want there and continue to stay open to options and opportunities. That said, I've also purged anything that does not bring out the best in me or in which I have no interest. It's been refreshing and liberating. Even with all of the tragedy and challenges, I'm as grateful as I've ever been in my life. Is there room for more? Yes, of course, there is always room for more of the good stuff.

Now is the time to focus on how I'm going to show up for me and those I love over the next 20, 30, 40 years. That means that there has to be less of me. I've done all of the things to lose weight over the years, cutting out food groups, not drinking, moving more. My weight is my armour. It protected me when I needed it and now I don't need it anymore. (I know this to be true because when I was with Bill, I felt profoundly safe and loved and with zero effort managed to lose 27 pounds.) There will be a lot of head and heart work as part of this process and I have the right coach to help me process it all.

In addition, to set me up for success:

  • I've joined Noom.

  • I've scheduled daily workout time at 2PM which has traditionally worked best. I have my trampoline, skipping rope, bands and balls.

  • I've started Get Fit With Rick as a gentle entry to more movement.

  • I've changed my 45-minute walk to a 25-minute walk because the former was too much so I simply avoided it, I do the latter. Done is better than perfect.

I will not be adding any more things to do. This is a manageable list and I'd far rather have the opportunity for wins than set myself up for disappointment.
