INSPIRED | Doing It Wrong
Sometimes it just feels right to do things wrong. Who decides what’s right and wrong, anyway?
I was, as I often am, inspired by an article in Bella Grace Magazine (Spring 2022) entitled “50+ Things We’re Proud To Do ‘Wrong’” and it was right up my alley! I surprised myself by my inability to come up with at least 50 things since I am regularly accused of not doing things the “right” way!
Whether I know the words, or in the right key, I often crank up the music in the truck or kitchen and sing along. And if I’m in the right mood, I dance, too!
I do not like roasted turkey, so for Thanksgiving, I serve turkey chili - with mountains of sour cream, guac, shredded cheddar, and tortilla chips.
Well before it was trendy, I embraced the grey. And now, I have a pixie cut. I love my short gray hair!
I’m learning to make play a priority. The rest will get done.
The best breakfast is leftovers from dinner the night before.
On the hottest summer days, I pour myself a steaming cup of hot Earl Grey tea and sip it on the porch. It always cools me right down.
I double the quantity of garlic called for in any recipe.
I have no secrets and can’t keep yours, please don’t ask me.
I have a dark sense of humour and will laugh uproariously at all things inappropriate.
I’m allergic to the sun but still insist on taking one early spring tropical trip every year (when the pandemic allows). I swim at dawn and dusk, and the rest of my time is usually spent under a covered patio as an umbrella no longer provides enough coverage.
I swear like a sailor, and at a time when I was in boarding school, could do so in five languages.
I don’t wear socks in my boots all winter.
At a social event, you will often find me with the men at the bar. I prefer their conversation: current events, sports, books, investments, and politics.
I loathe ketchup except on tater tots or meatloaf and prefer to eat my french fries with mayonnaise.
What about you? What are you doing wrong?
