SMALL GOOD THINGS | August
I continue to live a quiet life in a small seaside town that is bustling with summer tourists. My kids call a few times a week, and those living here in the province have plans to come up to visit the dogs and me a few more weekends before school starts again, life gets back to a fuller routine, and travel plans are put into play. I’m so happy they love where I’ve chosen to live as much as I do!
As for some small good things for August?
ONE | The last time I travelled, there were mask mandates and vaccine passports. The virus has become even more virulent, and we no longer have the safety of either of those things. You have no idea how nervous that makes me! All I can do is wear my mask and make good choices as I’m taking a flight to Cape Cod to spend time at our family retreat. I haven’t been there in a few years (for obvious reasons) and am looking forward to the visit - and the lobster! Time to simply pack, not freak out, and trust that my mask and recent 4th dose will do their job.
TWO | I’m well ahead in my book reading progress. The original plan was to read 24 by the end of the year, and I’m already past that number. It’s nice to be ahead of the challenge for once! It won’t stop me from reading even more - there are so many wonderful novels being published, and I have already downloaded several back catalogue titles of new-to-me authors.
THREE | With my birthday coming up next month, it’s fast becoming time to renew everything. I had to double check since, for some unfathomable reason, my province decided to “simplify” things by no longer needing a licence plate renewal sticker or sending out reminders. It has been tremendously confusing for many (and a substantial cash grab as everyone in town is being pulled over and ticketed). Lucky for me, I’m handy with a calendar. Two priorities: licence plate and passport renewals - two small things that make life work.
I continue to show up, dare to ask for more, and say yes to all opportunities that resonate with me and my values.
What are some small good things you can do to feel engaged and accomplished?
