LIST 36 | List the things you would tell your younger self to help them face the challenges or scary things in their life.
Over the years, there have been a few things that I’ve learned to embrace more fully:
Create a consistent daily practice and include plenty of journaling, counting your blessings, oracle card pulls and meditation.
What is meant for you will find you. Don’t force any situation. If the door doesn’t open, it’s not your door.
Don’t take it personally. People, just like you, project their own perspective, their own story, their own trauma, their own issues on everything. That said, people show you who they are, pay attention and trust that they know themselves best.
In every situation, good and challenging, “this too shall pass” is a valuable mantra.
You don’t step in the same river twice, life is ever-changing and evolving. You know nothing until you know something. Always keep a beginner’s mind. Stay open and curious.
Believe in your beliefs. Trust yourself and follow your instincts. Ignore the “shoulds” in the world.
Allow yourself to be surprised. Assume nothing, let situations evolve naturally. Control is an illusion - release any ideas that you ever have had or will have control over anything.
The worst has never happened, stop catastrophizing and find the lessons. You don’t know anything until it happens. Then deal with it quickly and efficiently. (Remember, it’s not personal.)
Read everything by Brené Brown and Maya Angelou; Joseph Campbell and Carl Jung; Danielle LaPorte and Colette Baron-Reid and Christine Mason-Miller. Be inspired!
Remember that turning shit into sunshine is your superpower.
Be kind. Be grateful. Lower your armour. Don’t allow anyone to make you small - own your magnificence. Know it will be too much for many.
Be clear (not rigid) on the life you want. Every opportunity ask yourself “does this support the life I want to create?” Usually, that means to say “yes” to any and all opportunities that appeal to how you want to feel. Sometimes you need to shut off your brain and go with your heart, it knows the way. Don’t play small or safe - go for it, always.
Love fully and completely. Love is the most powerful force in the universe. Feel all of the feels - for you, not for them. You have a big beautiful heart, share it.
Know this: On the other side of fear is joy. Your greatest tests will reveal your greatest joys.
So many things but those are the highlights. Some I knew when I was younger but didn’t fully understand or practice until I had the experience and confidence to know I can trust and rely on myself.
