WHAT SEEMINGLY INSIGNIFICANT THING CONTRIBUTES GREATLY TO YOUR HAPPINESS?
Most things that contribute greatly to my overall happiness are seemingly insignificant! It was one of the great gifts of the pandemic pause; I know what truly makes me happy when everything is stripped away.
A high toilet seat adds greatly to my happiness - especially after going on holiday where all of the toilets were ridiculously low!
A clean sink when I come downstairs in the mornings.
Random phone calls/facetime with my kids for no reason but to check in and fill me in on how their day is going.
Making plans - always having something to look forward to makes me feel like I have a purpose and a direction AND spontaneous activities with friends.
The first sip of hot Earl Grey tea in the morning.
The satisfaction of a good read - fiction, non-fiction, memoir, biography - if it’s engaging and I learn something, I’m fulfilled and happy.
Learning and experiencing the successes of others, things that bring my kids and my friends joy, in turn, brings me joy (it’s the complete opposite of schadenfreude).
Songs that are new to me that have meaningful lyrics and a catchy tune, by new artists or those more familiar, worthy of going on my most recent playlist.
A new recipe that works out on the first try!
Completing a story: beginning, middle, and end, for no reason other than to put it on paper.
What about you? What small things contribute to your happiness?
