IF YOU HAD TO SWITCH PLACES WITH ANOTHER PERSON, WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?
Again, there is no one person I’d want to switch places with since I don’t know the specifics, the real, of anyone’s life other than my own. You know the whole idea that you can’t compare your life to anyone’s highlight reel? I can’t even imagine switching if the highlight reel was utterly genuine.
If I switched places with another person, I’d likely choose someone struggling. One who needs some extra strength from the hard-earned lessons I’ve learned — someone who is not yet able to show up for themselves consistently or meaningfully every day.
I learned two life-altering lessons in the last decade: lead every day with gratitude in my heart; and, that I have control over nothing but my responses to people and events. It is only recently that I’ve fully integrated those lessons. As a result, I give myself permission to put myself first every day. A lot of that understanding came with the changes in my life circumstance: moving to a new home where the pace is slow, allowing grace and growth; my kids have grown up and are now living their own lives; and, my great love died, leaving me to face the future with new dreams and realities. Timing is often everything! I’m rolling with the ebb and flow of it.
I’m so busy focused on living the hell out of my own life, it wouldn’t occur to me to switch and live another life! I like mine just fine.
