BESTSELF™ ICEBREAKER | Dreams 13
WHAT'S AT THE TOP OF YOUR BUCKET LIST, AND HOW WILL YOU MAKE THAT HAPPEN?
Traditionally bucket lists are about acquiring things, or going places, or doing new and exciting things.
My bucket list includes simple desires that elude me.
Self-care: get fit and flexible; focus on my health; be the best version of myself; sleep, eat, drink, move, and meditate.
Write down all of the stories that are floating around in my head.
How will I make it happen? CONSISTENCY. I have to show up for my life and make it what I want it to be. I’m so close! I am content, completely happy with my life with the exception of my health.
There’s not much I can do about my asthma, thyroid disease or the potential of more blood clots - but I do take my medications. I walk around the neighbourhood (with and without my dogs) and stretch on my reformer Pilates machine every day, and my trainer Zooms in twice a week for an actual half-hour of sweaty workout on the machine. Weekly I see my RMT followed by the chiropractor. I’ve even added internal pelvic adjustments which have been helpful, if painful. I’ve turned off my alarm so I wake whenever I’m rested. I simply have to be more consistent with my daily practices. As long as I’m moving forward I’ll not be discouraged. Progress is progress.
I’ve learned I can’t rely on my memory for snippets of conversations, ideas, plots, and characters - I have to write it all down. I’m using my Notes app more often to capture fleeting and in-the-moment ideas. These will eventually be transcribed and put on notecards which are easy for me to work with to keep stories organized and readily available. What will I do with all the real and imagined stories in my head? I have no idea. To start, I’ll simply collect them.
What about you? What’s on the top of your bucket list?
