CREATE | #The100DayProject

I’ve attempted this project a couple of times, starting back in 2017 with a project that included all of the smart quotes I like (still my favourite). The inspiration for the creative challenge, Elle Luna’s book The Crossroads of Should and Must, continues to be one of my most favourite books and this project is one I greatly enjoy – though rarely get through! Perhaps now with the challenge scheduled to start on Sunday, 31 January, rather than early April, will help. Though, with the move and renovations, who knows?!?

What am I up to this time?

My 2021 project: #100daysofLINARphotos (to be shared on my Natural Light Photography account on Instagram, linked to the corresponding Twitter and Facebook page) will be a record of my everyday life, one photo a day through to Tuesday, 11 May.

With the assistance of a brilliant tool to keep me on track: Elise Blaha Cripe’s 100 Day Tracker. I’ve used this idea of 100 Days for a few habit changes that have worked well recently. I’m on the tail end of 100 Days of Sobriety, and I’ve enjoyed success with 100 Days of Oracle Cards, 100 Days of Zero Processed Sugar and 100 Days of Meditation. These challenges provide me with the encouragement and space to be more aware of what is important in my life. The non-creative challenges are met with far better success as it is usually about cutting out something rather than adding something in to my (normally full) days. All I know, EBC is right, BIG things happen one day at a time. I’ve learned that everything in life is all about small incremental moves in the direction you want to go.

Since my practical habit challenges tend to work better than my purely creative projects, I’ve added in a dog walk every day as that is when it is I hope to collect my daily photo, certainly once I’ve moved north, whenever that actually happens. In the meantime, there’ll be photos of my detour in Toronto. I think this is a great time to record my days as I transition from one life to another. I take delight in the idea of recording my newest next chapter which promises life-altering changes.

THINKING AHEAD: My follow-up plan is that Sunday, 01 August will be the start of a second “creative” project – 100 days of letters which will last until Tuesday, 09 November. If you want a letter, I’ll likely announce participation on my Instagram and Facebook accounts in July.

I’m excited! Are you going to join in?
