SMALL GOOD THINGS | November

This month has been lovely so far. November is all about the weather, which has been warmer than traditionally normal. We’ve been treated to the most spectacular sunsets. I know everyone thinks that they’re fabulous during the summer, and from May through September, they can be quite nice. November? Spectacular.

I thought October would bring sweater and boot weather, but it was delayed, and I keep waiting. I’m beyond ready to settle into days filled with rain, naps, inspiration, and comfort foods.

As for some small good things for November?

ONE | Last November, I met with my designer at a fabulous spot in Burlington and chose all of my main room furniture - the pieces and the fabrics. They all arrived a few days ago, almost a year to the day! Everything looks fabulous in the great room, and they feel all grown up - super sophisticated lines and fabrics, yet comfortable and inviting.

TWO | I’m back to chewing on antibiotics, this time with a Prednisone chaser. Why is this a good thing? While we had a tremendous wait at our local hospital, I am a member of a medical group where I can call and speak to a doctor to get some help. I explained the situation, and voila - meds were waiting for me at the pharmacy within the hour.

THREE | I can’t imagine (years ago) wanting to spend even a minute of my Reading Week with either of my parents. Imagine my joy that Caden came home for a few days during his! It was totally unplanned, and I was super busy; I think I surprised him with all the activities I participate in during the course of a regular week. I may have given him a different perspective on “retirement.” I can honestly say that I am rarely bored - there is always something to do and somewhere to be with lovely people!

BONUS | This week, I celebrate my 10th Divorcaversary - on the 13th. Honestly, it was the best decision I’ve ever made and one I should have acted on sooner (sorry, kids!). A good lesson in trusting myself and knowing I am capable of anything. I’m grateful the tests of that fortitude have stopped!

I continue to show up, dare to ask for more, and say yes to all opportunities that resonate with me and my values.

What are some small good things you can do to feel engaged and accomplished in your life?
