BRAVERY 52 | List 35
LIST 35 | List the things you have started but never finished.
THIS is the story of my life.
I took lessons in piano, guitar, and classical voice, got to a certain level. I was finished when it was clear I wasn’t going to be a professional in any of those things.
I took lessons in swimming, diving, and tennis until I was proficient in all - even more so in tennis - then was denied further training when invited to a prestigious tennis program. It “wasn’t in the budget”. But boarding school a year later was.
I took lessons in drawing, animation and painting - repeatedly over the years - and though I enjoyed them, I prefer photography.
I didn’t finish my English degree, though I have never stopped taking courses and learning new things. My curiosity about all things is insatiable - my wanting to learn is a true driving force. I am surrounded by books and questions.
I suppose I have never finished many things because I don’t see the point in finishing. I can still be good at things and never finish.
I have a half-written novel in an unpacked box. It may be finished in time, or not.
I have half-raised my kids since it’s a never-ending process. There’s no finish there.
I write here on my blog and on Instagram which will never be finished. There is always so much content to explore and share.
There is so much left unfinished, but isn’t the concept of being finished to be at the point where there is no more left to learn and do? You never really finish anything - you simply progress to the next level. Even if I don’t use the skills I’ve learned on a daily basis, I still have them in me. I’d not like to be finished - I like having something to look forward to every day.
