BESTSELF™ ICEBREAKER | Self-Awareness 22
IF YOU COULD ONLY HOLD ONTO FIVE PHYSICAL ITEMS, WHAT WOULD YOU KEEP AND WHY?
I am surrounded by so many things - aren’t we all? This was not an easy exercise! Though, the older I get, the more I’m aware that I can’t take it with me, so I’m accumulating less and less and appreciating more and more.
Five things, eh? These definitely bring me the most purpose and joy to my days:
My computer holds my writing and all of my projects.
My camera is also my phone, calendar, music holder, etc.
My passport allows me to travel anywhere in the world.
My Kindle is overflowing with stories I’ll have more time to read.
My glasses: reading, computer, and driving prescriptions, because it’s nice to see things (happy my phone and Kindle have adjustable font sizes!)
If I could have five more?
My bed, pillows, and linens because they are ridiculously comfortable and keep me cool at night.
Beading supplies are lovely and will allow me to meditate while also creating beautiful things.
Woo supplies, including my pendulum, oracle cards, and crystals. They centre me in my daily practices.
Notebooks and coloured markers, because who doesn’t want notebooks and markers?
Cast iron skillet can cook just about any meal I know how to make.
The rest? I suppose clothing and some shoes would be a good idea (though I can easily donate half and not feel the absence of any). My windchimes bring me much joy - especially when I nap on my front porch. I love my Pilates reformer and use it daily, but I could replace it with walking and stretching on the stairs. I love my vehicle, which is required where I live, but I would learn to live without it.
This was a challenging - and fun exercise. I can already see that it’s sparked some ideas for change in my life!
