BESTSELF™ ICEBREAKER | Life Lessons 09

DESCRIBE A TIME WHEN YOU NEEDED EXTREME COURAGE TO KEEP GOING BECAUSE OTHERS GAVE UP.

I believe there is a certain level of courage we all need to have in order to get out of bed in the morning.

In response to the prompt, I don’t know that I could point to anyone giving up - that feels a bit ‘blamey’ - I take full responsibility for every situation I’ve managed to get myself into and out of over the years.

Not to be overly dramatic, but my life has been fraught with opportunities to show up and be courageous. Some have been caused by challenging situations and others were far more pleasant.

Recently (well, it still feels new), I showed up with courage when I decided to trust my intuition, throw caution to the wind and be as raw and vulnerable as possible while loving unconditionally and accepting my Anam Cara, a man beautifully flawed equally as much as I am. It was the joy of my life. I showed up with extreme courage when he was diagnosed with a condition that eventually took his life less than a year of having him, after 37 years of longing. I know that when he left me he felt loved and worthy of it. The lessons I learned in our short time together stay with me every day.

Those lessons are often the source of courage I need to get out of bed in the morning.
