WHAT'S THE SADDEST MEMORY FROM YOUR CHILDHOOD?
How in the world is it possible to pick one, the most sad memory from a sad childhood?
What was the saddest? This prompt has dug up a lot. Pages and pages in my journal! Plenty of tears and anger, resentment and fear.
I suppose that saddest memory from my childhood would be the pervasive belief that I was always lying.
The reality was I didn’t lie. (Still not my go-to.) I was surrounded by people who had an agenda and I was, for years, the scapegoat of that manipulation.
What was sad about it? That one person and her minions (aka nannies) were believed and I wasn’t.
As a result, one of my core, principal beliefs as a parent: always believe the children.
