BESTSELF™ ICEBREAKER | Beliefs 16
WHAT SHOULD WE BE DOING TO SAVE THE PLANET FOR OUR GRANDCHILDREN?
Where do you start to answer this question? There are so many things that are broken, and time has exacerbated their decay.
I think the only way to start is by acknowledging that no one gender, no one religion, no one race, no one philosophy is superior to another. No one “deserves” great riches or great poverty. That was the luck of the draw, and I believe it is the responsibility of those with much to provide for those with little. It takes all kinds to make up a world. Show respect for those things you don’t understand and curiosity for what you want to understand.
I hope that I’ll be around long enough to meet my grandchildren. I’ll have done my best to instil my liberal, open, woke beliefs into my children so that they have a head start (with their partner) to raise my grandchildren to be the same kind, empathetic, intelligent, tolerant, accepting, decent participants in the human condition as they are.
I want my children and grandchildren to realize a world filled with cynicism and avarice and laziness and cruelty and censorship and impatience and corruption will do nothing to save the planet. We got to this sorry state because of the actions accompanying those awful character traits.
I believe all of the broken things will be fixed when everyone realizes we are all the same. We are one. We are in this together.
