BESTSELF™ ICEBREAKER | Beliefs 06
WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE MEANING OF LIFE?
More wise and educated minds have tackled this question since the beginning of time - my qualifications to answer are questionable.
I think the meaning of life is to learn how to be loved.
I think loving others comes naturally to all of us. The receiving of love is tougher. I know few people who believe themselves worthy of the love they so freely give to others. We are riddled with beliefs that limit us. We also know ourselves better than anyone else could and we see our character and physical flaws as so much more horrible and ugly than anyone else would. Collectively, I believe we have far less self-compassion and empathy than we bestow on others.
To love and be loved, without condition, is a profound experience. To be accepted for all of our flawed humanity is truly shattering in the best possible way.
I think the meaning of life is to find that experience then live the lessons of it.
I am incapable of going back to who I was before Bill. Now that I’ve experienced love in the most giving and profound way, my life can’t go back to not knowing it exists. I learned so much in our time together and in order to honour him (and us) is to live with the knowledge of love and share it every day at every opportunity. I am now capable of living my best life because I know how that feels.
