these days i am adjusting to the fact that i have no one left in high school. i am so incredibly proud of my kids and look forward to everything they accomplish going forward. they’re busily deciding on courses for uni and i’m their consultant. so funny.
these days i am teaching caden how to cook all of our favourite family recipes. next school year he will be sharing a kitchen with his yet-to-meet roommates. he’ll be armed with at least ten good meals that do not include ramen noodles, macaroni and cheese or cereal!
these days i am making an effort to keep up with tucker and finn’s training. i need a refresher – already.
these days i’m enjoying meaningful conversations (via text, facetime and even in person) with all of my kids regarding every aspect of their past, present and future. i love learning about them by the questions they ask and how they consider the answers to the questions i put forth.
these days my hand is healing well from surgery. i am looking forward to reaching the ‘a’ on my keyboard with ease. the hand clinic makes me a bit queezy but i am getting pretty good at the therapy exercises.
these days i am officially a certified oracle guide now that i have completed both the personal mastery (level 1) and shared wisdom (level 2) parts of colette baron-reid’s oracle school. i’m excited to know what’s next and am looking forward to oraclepalooza in austin, tx!
these days cole is enjoying his commute via ferry to work every day on toronto island. he’s learning some wonderful life lessons this summer.
these days my heart is breaking for my sister and her family who lost their portuguese water dog, tawny, to pneumonia. it was so unexpected and sad. she was only 8 years of age.
these days i’ve joined a writing group in burlington which is a wonderful way to keep me on track and accountable for the novel in progress. that combined with classes at sheridan, editing “camp” at utm and brian’s intensive creative writing on tuesdays, it’s a full summer!
these days the back yard remodel is almost done. i’m looking forward to spending the rest of july, august and hopefully through september outside. though the heat of late has been suffocating with the humidity off the chart!
these days i am not staying quiet when people appropriate the ideas of others and pass them off as their own. it’s a bad habit and one that is rampant in certain quarters. note to all: give credit!
these days the house is now 90% decorated. only a couple of more projects remain on the list. i am pleased with how it is all turning out. after 4 years, it’s about time!
these days i am already booking flights for chloé to return to edinburgh. it is fun having her home – when she’s not working as a nanny/house sitter/chicken coop monitor!
these days claire is now a starbucks barista! her life is full with work, studies and dodgeball. i see her when she comes to town for the orthodontist. i’m kind of hoping the braces stay on for a while.
these days i have four little beasties busily eating milkweed. i hope to keep them alive long enough for them to transition into monarchs so i can release them in a couple of weeks. doing my part.
these days i am scouring the house looking for books for my canadian literature quest. so far i’ve found 15 of the 32 on the list. i haven’t checked my kindle, yet. though i did find a ton of duplicates and other novels by the suggested authors. this project may last longer than planned!
