these days the weather is wonky! we went from -40°C to +10°C – a 50° swing in the matter of one day. my backyard was coated in 8-10cm of snow one day and grass the next. a week later there was a crazy ice storm. it was insane! now to remember to pick up the dog poop before the next dump – of snow.
these days the logistics of breaking leases and buying property, packing and moving is underway! two kids are staying put while the other two are on the move. it makes for interesting conversations. everyone is learning something new (read: adulting). even our lists have lists.
these days the master bathroom is fixed, finally! ever since i moved into this house the thermostat for the shower didn’t work (so i had to shower at the temperature the shower decided) and the sink taps were seized (making teeth brushing and face washing difficult). i needed to fix all of the other issues in my home, which means the kids and their needs were first. i’m glad i can now focus on the things i need! two new light fixtures and that room is done. progress, slow but progress nonetheless.
these days the new range is ordered. my kitchen is wonky with the oven on a far wall and not in the effective “triangle” generally used in every kitchen. that is going to be fixed – the cooktop is going and the range is taking it’s place. that should improve the flow. who knows? i might even cook.
these days tucker’s ears are still infected, he needs a specialist. unfortunately that means we have to wait until april. and then drive to guelph. but hopefully there are answers. the poor thing is suffering so much. i wish i could just make it all go away.
these days the celery experiment was a bust. the juicer has been given away.
these days i’m still trying to figure out the scheduling system for my website. i just don’t know if i want to. one step forward, two steps back. it’s a cha cha. i wish i enjoyed dancing!
these days as much as i want to actively contribute to the trump slump, i am packing for another trip to the states.
these days combined with jackie (3x each week) and my epicure good food real results program, i’ve joined v-shred and am using their eating and movement program. i’m learning to grit my teeth and get through the pain of moving. now to just deal with the constant overthinking about food. humans are such inefficient creatures with the whole have to eat thing. it’s exhausting. i’m keeping track of it all in my fit program with a group of supportive and creative women.
these days after six months of less than stellar performance, i’ve replaced my cleaning service with a cleaning woman. i’m hoping with the consistency of having one person will be an improvement. and, bonus, even with the same number of “man”-hours this new arrangement will save me a bundle.
these days product sourcing was one of the best jobs i ever had. the difference is now i don’t have a built-in distribution network. i am trying to find high quality canadian sources to convert my photography to scarves, pillows, journals, canvas, etc. in a way that i can control the quality and finally set up my shopify site. i went to the toronto gift show in an effort to find suppliers and the minimums are simply too high – too much product for too much money. so frustrating! any help would be greatly appreciated.
these days i have notoriously bad luck with area rugs – they shed. i’ve had the one in my family room and the matching kitchen rug for less than a year and they have to go. i think they’re contributing to tucker’s ear troubles and i know they’re contributing to the mess. thank goodness i had more help removing them than i did installing them. it took way less time and effort. now they’re in he hallway waiting for pick up. i’m so grateful for my boys’ assistance – it was a big job.
these days chloé got her very first job ever – all by herself! most summers she has been either traveling, taking courses or combining the two. the first place she applied to was the job she really wanted. the dates are perfect and the pay not bad. she wants to be a teacher. this is going to give her some great hands-on experience.
these days after months of looking i finally found s’well 20oz traveller bottles and bought one for each of my kids (and got me an extra one, too). probably the most used item i’ve purchased in the last couple of years. love my teakwood traveler.
these days i’m focusing on the creative projects that bring me the most satisfaction, growth and joy. i’m comfortable knowing for sure that the things i hoped would bring me joy simply don’t: pottery, painting, drawing, paper crafting, mixed media, knitting/crochet. in the meantime i’m sticking with photography and writing and occasionally combining the two.
