ICEBREAKER: DO YOU FEEL MOST CONNECTED TO THE PAST, PRESENT, OR FUTURE?
I have consciously and constantly worked on bringing myself into the present. With meditation and general stillness, I practice the simple act of being. I do believe fully in the words of Lao Tzu: “If you are depressed you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future. If you are at peace you are living in the present.”
GOING DEEPER: HAS ANYTHING EVER HAPPENED TO YOU THAT YOU COULD NOT, AND STILL CANNOT, EXPLAIN?
I can speculate plenty but I cannot explain what happened with Frozen Ropes Canada (a baseball training facility owned by me and run by my former husband). Why did it have to close? Was it the ever-increasing smoking fines? Mismanagement? Rent increases? Staffing issues? Lack of revenue? I have no idea and never received a straight answer. I had invested in the franchise in 2004 as an opportunity for my youngest (who had a drowning accident the previous year) to inherit a viable business that we would run for him until he was old enough to take over. To my great disappointment, Frozen Ropes Canada lasted only four years.
