ICEBREAKER: IF YOU COULD WAKE UP TOMORROW HAVING GAINED ANY ONE QUALITY, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Patience. Enough to enjoy the journey – the process. I think that’s why I don’t enjoy cooking. I need immediate gratification, I don’t have the wherewithal to simply enjoy the process. I’m infinitely more patient than I’ve ever been in my life but I still get anxious to get to the end of a chore or project as quickly as possible.
GOING DEEPER: DO YOU HAVE ANY REGRETS?
How much time do you have?
Of course, I have regrets! Does anyone not? And if you know anyone who claims to have none they either have lived an unexamined life, or haven’t lived at all, or are beyond perfect in every possible way.
I don’t know that I would go back and change anything, those regrets held some pretty significant lessons – for a few I was in the remedial class as it took me extra time to learn. I do not dwell on my regrets, I have forgiven myself and understand where I was in my personal evolution when certain decisions were made. I am not the same person now as I was then – I cannot judge who I was then by the standards of who I am now.
