ICEBREAKER: WHERE DO YOU FIND PEACE?
In the rain.
A long car ride.
Writing a list.
Listening to our playlist on Spotify.
With a pen and notebook.
Petting the dogs.
In the company of my friends.
Walking along the water’s edge.
GOING DEEPER: HAS THERE EVER BEEN A TIME IN YOUR LIFE WHEN YOU FELT YOU COULD NEVER FULLY REPAY SOMEONE? WHEN WAS IT?
A few days after Caden was born via C-section in May of 2000, I came down with a viral infection, pericarditis. The sac around my heart was swelling and squeezing the heart muscle. I have never felt pain like that before or since. It was early afternoon and I was unable to locate my husband. My friend, Rosemary Foley, dropped everything and, along with her kids, came to my home to take care of my four children (4, 3, 1 and newborn) until my husband showed up. She stayed, fed them dinner, and got them ready for an early bedtime. Then, with her kids, she waited for my husband. I know that if Rosemary weren’t able to come when I needed her, I never would have made it through the night. There is nothing I can do to ever repay her, ever.
