ICEBREAKER: WHAT MOVIES HAVE YOU WATCHED MORE THAN THREE TIMES?
I am generally not a person who re-watches or re-reads anything. I figure there isn’t enough time to repeat myself when I’m hard-wired to want to experience everything.
Any parent can tell you that repetition is key to development so, with my kids, I watched and re-watched many movies! Lion King, Toy Story, Miyazaki (Spirited Away, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Castle in the Sky), Barbie Nutcracker, Anastasia. Then we moved onto more “adult” fare: Practical Magic, A River Runs Through It, Pleasantville, To Kill a Mockingbird, Elvis and “Gidget” movies, anything based on a Jane Austen or Agatha Christie book.
GOING DEEPER: WHAT IS SOMETHING CREATIVE YOU DID WHEN YOU WERE YOUNGER THAT YOU NO LONGER DO? WHY DON’T YOU DO IT?
For years I thought I didn’t have the time to fritter away on nonsense, after all, there were far more serious things to dedicate my energy and imagination. Then, any time I may have had to daydream was been given over to meditation which was more beneficial to me.
I think it’s time to daydream again.
