ICEBREAKER: ARE ALL EMOTIONS BEAUTIFUL?
I think all emotions can be interpreted in a way that focuses on the beauty held in anger, fear, sadness, disgust, surprise, anticipation, trust and joy. (List of emotions based on renowned psychologist and emotion researcher, Robert Plutchik, who suggests that there are eight basic emotions.) The emotions may not be beautiful at first glance, though the lessons held in them are often glorious.
GOING DEEPER: WHAT MAKES YOU WEIRD?
More often than not, I think I’m far too boring to be weird. That would likely be argued by my family and my partner.
Hmm. Weird things.
When I get angry or anxious, I clean while blasting music throughout the house.
I am excited by a blank page rather than intimidated.
I cannot stand anything sticky on my hands and wash a number of times every day (even pre-Covid-19)
I love doing laundry with folding being the best part.
I’m pretty grossed out by processed foods but LOVE my one bag of Doritos and baloney sandwich enjoyed each summer in Cape Cod.
I thrive in order though live in an office filled with piles and piles and piles.
I have to sleep in a cold room with the window open and ceiling fan moving.
I cannot be late. Drives me bonkers. Others can be late, I bring a book or journal to keep me occupied while I wait.
What about you? What makes you weird?
