Forget “Big Brother”, in my home our motto should be “expect the unexpected”. This month was emotionally draining on every level imaginable: highs, lows and everything in between!
The Athletics Banquet was attended by only one child this year – my dedicated non-athlete. Proof that anything is possible! | We welcomed the full Strawberry Moon. | Flights are booked and rooms reserved for our trip to Fredericton for Aunt Beth’s 90th birthday celebration. | Pottery Barn comes through with sisal rugs for the kitchen. | Cole won the Alice Smith award for taking care of the heath and welfare of the gentlemen of Powell’s this year. | Chloé was surprised when given the only Certificate of Distinction for music in her grade. | Don Henley is played on the Adult Alternative Rock station on Stingray. Love. | Lacrosse Goalie just may be the best position for Caden as he stepped in for his regular goalie and snuck out a 9-8 win for the Titans. | Here Comes the Sun was the name of the painting workshop. So much fun. | Kundalini Meditation makes me happy and centered. | EXAMS! They started on Saturday the 6th with everyone writing English. | Prom party canceled with much speculation. Disappointing. | No exams for Caden, he had ASCENT. More of a collaborative evaluation. | Chloé was chosen to be a Student Ambassador, Peer Counselor and Senior One Leader at school next year. Lots of responsibility for my girl. | My truck starts with a BLAST of country music. | Charlie the Plumber was back. Toilet in the basement fixed for the party. High tech water filter system replaced with low tech soap dispenser in the kitchen. Part replaced the master shower. Progress! | Mix & Mingle with the Appleby Mums was a last opportunity to be with that group. That is good and bad. Lots of stories over the years! | Mercury Rx beat the living crap out of everyone I know this cycle. Wow! | Cole moved out of Powell’s. A year filled with so many new experiences. | Basketball net is up and full-contact HORSE has begun! | Before her birthday Chloé was out of school for the first time ever. | Trip to Service Ontario – twice – for new photo OHIP card. | Orange Theory Fitness membership purchased and my first class was barely survived. I am getting better. | Sent in a pitch to Mabel Magazine. | INTJ | The movie This Is Where I Leave You was positively brilliant. Grateful to Helen for telling me about it. There are so many movies I need to watch. | Passport LOST! Panic and tears. | Trip to Hamilton with her brother for a replacement. Lessons learned about the power of civil servants. | Remembering to breathe and go with the flow. | Big brothers make good bouncers. For Chloé’s Sweet 16 party I was glad to have them. No puke. No police. To some that would be a fail, but to me that was the perfect party! | Claire called from the Guinness brewery and found herself in tears from the campus of Trinity College in Dublin. | On Oprah’s Master Class, Jane Fonda is my favourite interview. I needed the reminder that “the challenge is not to be perfect…it’s to be whole“. | High School Musical was performed and we all went in to Toronto to watch my super talented niece – even without her voice she lit up the stage! | Muskoka chairs were built with much patience and (another) new drill. | LOTS of celebrations and birthdays this month. | Early end of exams for Chloé meant time in Toronto hang out with family and friends. | Exams DONE. | Dad & Daughter lunch in Toronto is one of my most favourite things. Fun to have a chance to celebrate Father’s Day for a change! | Season end lacrosse tournament. I do believe it is the last time Caden will play. He did have a good season but it’s time to rest. | Brené Brown? Nashville? I’m in, with Claire. | Wise Women Circle has begun. | The Town has asked me to put a stream in my back yard. My pleasure! | Claire came home in time to surprise her brother at the Graduation ceremony. This was followed by a big family celebration lunch for Cole at Jonathan’s. | Before Prom, a small group gathered together and photos were taken. Then Cole and Lara were off to the formal and after parties with their friends. I saw them again at 10 the next morning! | My Chakredy Intensive course, too + time to Get Organized with Patti Digh. | Family Photo Shoot was a bust. My much-delayed 50th birthday gift to myself has been delayed once again. | Our ONE YEAR anniversary in this house was acknowledged with much joy. This is truly our home. | Claire interested in golf? Ah, I think it’s Jordan Spieth. What a wonderful US Open Tournament! | OELC season arrived. I drove Chloé up to Orillia for another year of Leadership Training at the centre. We were happy to give a lift to another girl from school and her mum. | Lara returned to Turkey leaving my boy with a hole in his chest. Distraction is in order! | PanAM volleyball tickets have arrived! | Solar flares are showing up as headaches. Ugh. | Big Brother premiere. @_clairasaurus live tweeted. | Hockey season never ends. A fantastic Stanley Cup Finals where Chicago won, at home. We enjoyed Strombo‘s motorcycle ride across the USA. We cheered (loudly) Carey Price’s award hat trick. The NHL Draft was predictable, but fun given that Cole knows some of the players in this year’s crop. | Going with the flow and adjusting my 95 Day Project as bumps are hit. Took away some things, added in others. I’m determined to make this work! | #lovewins | Wimbledon has begun! | Supplemental credit card arrived with zero time to spare. Love the ladies at the Main Branch here in town. | First conversation with husband of nice neighbour: he doesn’t like the time the sprinkler system goes on, the noise the air conditioner makes or the fact my boys make noise (the bounce of the ball) when playing basketball. It was a terribly negative conversation. Really bad energy. Happy to wait another year. | Emergency run to the bookstore (yes, it’s possible!) for Blyth texts that were never delivered. | My social butterfly will not be home much this summer. My first hint? Her absence! | Yolanda’s in Bronte was delicious! The company was much enjoyed. | Much needed website updates were made and now you can purchase photography from my photography shop and check out my Instagram feed. | OELC pick up and we (Cole, Caden – in kangaroo suit – and I) went quickly to Pearson for Chloé to catch her flight to France. If she lets herself, she’s going to have a blast! | Changes to the blog are exactly what I wanted. Thanks Kenda. | My new bed makes the transformation (ex-spouse purge) complete. | Bloodwork. Ugh. | The Oakville Club makes me happy. | Weather this month: the hottest day of the year, the coolest day of the season and for the most part was pretty wet and windy. Really changeable. | JUNE 2015
And, since Jane Fonda’s words resonated so completely with me, I made a printable for my collection. Below, right click, and save a full resolution 8″x10″ image for yourself!
