* maybe not “right now” as it was a few weeks ago!
Since Claire started University, it’s been our practice to head some place warm for her Reading Week. Not only does she need the break and chance to get herself back on track, she has terrible eczema which gets worse in the dry cold air of her Kingston winter. We’ve been to a few places, but so far we enjoy Turks & Caicos the most.
This year Cole joined us as their reading weeks coincided. (Don’t worry in the spirit of fair does not mean equal, Chloé went to Cuba with the choir and Caden to Florida with family. Everyone had a chance to warm up!)
NOTE TO SELF: Bring the big camera on all future trips. The iPhone 6 has a good camera, kinda.
First thing I did after unpacking was head to the beach. The sand is so wonderful – like cake flour. And bonus, it doesn’t get hot in the heat of the day!
Kindle is perfect for the beach. It was so nice to relax under the umbrella and read a true beach book.
Every afternoon at 4:30 I would head down to the bar and bring out my journal and coloured pens. I enjoy being quiet in a loud space. By the start of Happy Hour at 5 it was jammed with many ‘happy to be away from the cold and snow of home’ revelers. It seems everyone was from either Boston or Ottawa this year.
I brought my cards so as not to miss any of the Daily Guidance teaching with Susannah Conway. Such wonderful stuff!
So beautiful my regular walks back to the room. They called for thunderstorms all week but we lucked out with brilliant weather every day but one.
Ouch. Crazy burn. Except for 15 minutes of ocean swimming, I was under an umbrella or in the covered bar area when I was outside, how is this possible?
Claire loves the heat! And so does the eczema – almost 100% gone by the time we left!
Cole enjoyed the water. I’m so glad he occasionally got away from his books (yes, he brought at least 20 pounds worth) and enjoyed some time in the water.
Over and over again he would catch a wave and head to shore. Then back out to do it again. It provided a lot of entertainment for those on the beach who noticed – and then did the same!
This is Claire … with a tan.
The bright flowers were so wonderful to see. Everywhere we turned.
This sign gave each of us a giggle every time we crossed the bridge, multiple times a day.
This was at lunch just before we headed out to the airport. This trip proved a much needed respite from the grind of day-to-day. I’m so glad to have captured such a good shot of the two of them. Maybe the iPhone 6 camera isn’t so bad – at least I captured the image.
Next year, I’m not sure who will accompany me, but I will be back! Who’s in?
