The Desire Map revolutionized how I go after what I want in my life. It was made clear to me early in my first reading that I had been going about achieving my desires backwards. Instead of balking at the insult, I leaned into the possibility that there might just be another way. A better way. After all, the manner to which I had been going about chasing my goals were not yielding spectacular results! Instead of keeping my eye on the prize, a better choice might be to keep in my heart the feeling I hope the goal will achieve for me. As I am a practical person, I appreciated how the book/workbook made the ideas of reaching my Core Desired Feelings in a realistic, approachable and easy manner, possible.
I’ve gone through the Desire Map process a few times – by myself, with a book club and through the virtual training program for facilitators. I most enjoy that I learn something new each time and it resonates more fully with each repeat. I’ve mulled the concepts and the ideas and have determined what works best for me. I’m also open to the idea that what works for me may not for everyone, and that’s the beauty of it!
My first time through I thought I knew my Core Desired Feelings before I started. They were so “obvious”. They were not. I had to come up with a handful of feelings that would represent how I want to feel in all areas of my life: Livelihood & Lifestyle, Body & Wellness, Creativity & Learning, Relationships & Society, and Essence & Spirituality. THAT process was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I have been able to truly dig deep and decide HOW I WANT TO FEEL EVERY SINGLE DAY OF MY LIFE. There has been one swap and one addition, but they have essentially remained the same.

As is my custom, I bought a necklace to carry these feelings with me every day. Indeed, I bought two, one gold and one silver:
I like the idea of having my CDFs close. A physical testament to the amount of raw emotion, vulnerability, effort and tears it took to drill down to find them!
