I am currently …
EATING at home a lot more than I’m used to and am relieved that it’s becoming easier. Right now I want to come up with new Mediterranean-based recipes to add to the rotation.
DRINKING a mug filled with a wonderful new chai tea from Epicure (Balancing Act) that Lesley sent over with the newest catalogue.
READING far too much crazy on Twitter lately, a format I’m not usually on but can’t seem to avoid. It’s regularly funny and sad and heartbreaking all at the same time.
WATCHING a show that never appealed but wow, is it ever good: Californication. My to-watch list is growing: Call the Midwives, Ray Donovan, Ozark, Billions, Fleabag, Watchmen, Virgin River and more.
LISTENING to the daily mixes magically made for me on Spotify. I enjoy discovering new-to-me music – both songs and artists, as well as reminders of great music I had long forgotten about.
LOVING the weather lately, no jacket required. Every day the temperature is hovering around 0°C. The downside is that when it’s warm there is no sun and it looks dreary. When the sun comes we’ll know the cold days have returned.
MOVING more and more every day, especially on those days I have my hour-long private reformer Pilates class with Jackie. It hurts but feels so good – until the next day and then it just hurts.
LEARNING to recognize my desire to sign up for absolutely every course that is introduced over the first of the year and not give in to my usual response. It’s an exciting time and everyone is filled with plans and intentions. This year I’m honouring a slower start, more in keeping with this hibernation time of year. Keeping what works and releasing whatever does not.
GOING to a final Mastermind retreat in Sanibel Island where a couple of close friends will be missing. Rather than give into my first inclination to cancel, I’m going to sit in a bit of discomfort which is okay, after all, that’s where growth resides. This iteration has been different from the last, which was to be expected, but still came as a surprise. [Note: this piece was written before I actually had to cancel the trip, for health reasons.]
FEELING tired. All aspects of my life has been draining lately. Time for me to focus on filling back up before I can give more.
WEARING pajamas. The beauty of working from home is that I can putz around and work on the computer all morning long without having to ‘get ready’ for my day.
GIVING myself permission to simply ease in and allow for circumstances to evolve at their own pace without any active input from me.
PLAYING with a few travel ideas: Hawaii? Croatia? Greenland? Not sure where this year will take me, but I know it’ll be new – and fun.
NOTICING who is showing up unconditionally, with love and support for me. The revelation has been interesting, saying more about them than me. Truly fascinating.
WORKING hard at keeping all the diverse balls in the air. Taking advantage of all his vertical time and being clear on my expectations. Interesting times ahead that will be challenging and fun. My brain is currently in more of a spin than I’m comfortable but it shall pass.
What about you? How are things in your world these days?
