LIST 04 | List the people/animals you’ve cared for, the good you’ve done, and the things you have accomplished that make you feel good about yourself.
I have been doing 52 Lists prompts for a few years now and I have to say that this particular one is not sitting right with me. My initial response is made up of three pretty long and involved lists that sounds disconnected and boastful. I usually get into specifics in my responses to these prompts, but not this time. It’s too much.
I’ll make it as short and low-key as possible:
I feel good about myself for caring for and raising my four uniquely individual kids; my two silly labradoodles; loving my beautiful Bill (especially when he got sick and before he passed away and all of the decisions that had to be made after). Beyond those priorities, I care for my family, his family, our friends, his friends, my friends … the list goes on. I am grateful and blessed to have so many good people in my life.
I do my best by everybody, every day – friends and strangers. Without any religious context, I treat people the way I want to be treated. I’m inclusive, kind and thoughtful; I do my best to create open communication and bring together communities. I keep my expectations high and judgment to myself. I can only be responsible for myself and how I show up in the world. I am fortunate for the opportunity.
I feel good about myself as a result of hard work. Over the course of years, I invested time to come to terms with and improve upon my numerous flaws in order to show up as the very best version of myself. Daily, I model the best behaviour possible, not just for my kids, but for anyone who witnesses me. I am able to use my coaching tools to help others.
Yes, vague, but it’s as well as I can address this particular prompt, today.
