Often I think of summer as a time of relaxation, reading and napping. The reality is quite the opposite! Summer 2015 holds within it many promises of adventure, opportunity to learn new things, as well as heat and dreaded humidity. Unlike years prior to this, I am not making oodles of plans and there is far more chance for flexibility and flow.

Maybe I can get my kids to come with me? | Canada’s Wonderland will be visited numerous times by many combinations of my kids with their friends. | The Imagine Dragons concert is going to be outstanding. | Off to celebrate the 90th Birthday party in Fredericton for my aunt. I hope to catch up with some friends while there! | Caden starts Grade 10 math so his brain will not atrophy over the summer and BONUS he will have more choices in Grade 11 and 12. | Pan Am games in Toronto and we have oodles of tickets for beach volleyball and baseball. | “Go Set a Watchman” by Harper Lee is released! | Writers workshops. | RBC Canadian Open is held in our town – time to get out of Dodge, er, Oakville! | #augustbreak | Fenway for a baseball game. | There is a Full Blue Moon in July and FIVE Fridays. | Looking forward to our time at the Beach House in Cape Cod. | New kitchen/family room furniture should be ready for delivery by the time we get back. | Driving lessons for Chloé. Sprinkled in among the special events will be plenty of normal things like …

A bit. | Leisurely walks through our downtown that looks to have fewer “for lease” signs, finally. | Eat more fish – preferably on the BBQ. | Write the outline for my book. | Buy 8 Muskoka chairs. Yes. 8. White. | Learn to make a margarita. Not a Meg margarita, just a regular one. | Take time to colour and doodle. | Keep up with the laundry.
To sum it up? I’m looking forward to some ease and relaxation with humour and patience. And not too much humidity or bugs!
What about you? What does your summer hold?
