LIST 17 | List the times you have benefited from slowing down, pulling back, or saying no.
Given this current time of Covid-19, it’s hard to think back at another more profound example of slowing down. Certainly, nothing that had me come to a complete stop.
By nature I am an introvert and enjoy slowing down, cancelling plans, pulling back and saying no. Though, most often the circumstances leading to slow were health-related, not by choice.
- My hand surgery slowed me down for 3-weeks through an inconvenient recovery.
- My breast reduction slowed me down for 8-weeks through a brutal recovery.
- My blood clot slowed me down for 6-weeks through a scary recovery.
Every opportunity to slow down, whether forced or chosen, has been a good thing for me and those around me. The results are often the same:
- I feel peace.
- I feel calm.
- I feel agency.
- I feel flow.
- I feel synchronicity.
- I feel a connection.
- I feel grateful.
- I feel compassion.
- I feel surrender.
- I feel rested.
- I feel grace.
- I feel the beautiful space between inhale and exhale.
For the most part, I am enjoying this current time of forced confinement. I recognize that a lot of people are anxious and uncomfortable whereas I am in my happy place. I feel tremendous compassion for those who are suffering through this unprecedented time. I do hope anyone tormented is able to embrace whatever solace and peace that can be found in the weeks and months ahead.
