DRINKING | Starting my days with English Breakfast Tea – it is so much stronger than my usual green or Earl Grey, the Pruvit Kreme tastes so much better mixed in it.
EATING | Only when I’m hungry and then only half of what I think I want.
EMBRACING | A new schedule and full calendar. This year I don’t want to simply plan my year, I want to live my year. The whole of it. To that end I have scheduled regularly occurring activities and events that will make that happen.
CATCHING | Glimpses of what my children will be like as adults. They will all (of course) be spectacular, but it’s interesting to see how they interact with stress and with joy. Fascinating.
ENJOYING | The shiny and new start to all of the online courses (new and repeat with new content) that I’m taking this year. Some memory keeping, some health related, some woo, all are creative and challenging.
COOKING | Cauliflower “rice” and ground turkey in preparation for lunch over the next few days.
TRYING | Essential oils in my new diffuser. Admittedly, I have no sense of smell, but I wonder if maybe something else in my system will pick up on the desired effect of the oils I use. With it being so dry it’s nice to have the steam through my bedroom all night long whether the scents are working or not!
MISSING | Tropical breezes and sand between my toes – margarita’s too!
FEELING | Grateful for the arrival of Chloé’s new 10-year passport. Big exhale! Now preparations for South Africa can proceed in earnest.
LISTENING | To the playlist Elizabeth created for The Magic of Myth class. Eclectic though there is a definite theme.
WATCHING | The Crown on Netflix has been wonderful to watch. I really enjoyed all of it. At the start it had me on Google sharpening up British family tree knowledge but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of all of it.
READING | So many books came in over the holidays! Between gifts from others, gifts to myself and preparation for courses and clubs there are stacks and stacks of new books! Exciting and scary. Even with so much choice, I have to admit I am captivated with Chasing Slow by Erin Loechner.
WEARING | Pajamas. At 3PM. Yep. It turned out to be that kind of day.
PLANNING | So many good things ahead. Some travel. Some courses. Some fun.
WANTING | More hours in the day to catch up on all the things I want to learn and do.
NEEDING | Sleep. The deep and restful kind.
WISHING | There were no calories or carbs in chips & dip. In my carb-reduced (ketogenic) eating plan I don’t miss anything sweet but I do miss savoury and salty.
WAITING | For Claire’s arrival tomorrow – her car should be ready (it was broken into on New Year’s Day in Toronto) – she’s going to help me with the party this weekend.
FINISHING | All of the 2016 projects are being proof-read with great attention to detail. Once that’s complete they will be sent away for printing. I’m so excited for the finished product!
THINKING | Maybe I should have kept my PSE10 as a back-up in case I got stuck with the (baby steps) PSE13 version? Next step, PSE15 already installed in Caden’s computer. #JustACoupleOfYearsBehind
ENJOYING | Quiet days with just me and Tucker at home. I have been super productive which has lead to more ideas and plans to be even more productive. Yay! (Well, with the exception of the last couple of days which have included two sick kids. Looking forward to everyone being well and and back to quiet around here.)
ENCOURAGING | By example. Though it may be too late in the day, we are hoping for a little kindness and inclusiveness in Chloé’s graduating grade. I agreed to her request to host an after-party in our home following the Semi-Formal at school. It has to be an all-or-nothing proposition so everyone is invited. Her grade is (and has always been) aggressively entitled, divisive and cruel. I might not want to have some of those kids in my house for the way they’ve treated my daughter and her friends, but sometimes taking that high road is worth the nausea that comes with the altitude. Maybe they’ll learn something? Hope for the best; prepare for the worst. #ILiveInHope
CELEBRATING | The big purge of all the bathrooms in the house. So many half used bottles, abandoned products and garbage collected over the past year. Not anymore! Out with anything that has no more use. It feels so good to have order in the closets and bathrooms. What space is next?
MARVELING | At all the courses I signed up to do when I promised myself I was going to cut back this year. There is just so much goodness out there that I want to learn and do! And I’m signed up to do B-School again.
ANTICIPATING | Another round of Kundalini Meditation with Sally Hope – this time Love Detox Live – to clear the past and create the future. Given the events of the last week some clearing is required! The program looks like just what I need for February.
CULTIVATING | A consistent wholehearted practice to create a wonderful life of love and intention.
